My Wanted poster

This morning we were told to do a wanted POSTER on a dangerous sea creature. I chose Prianha’s and wrote about how they are dangerous and what you should look out for them. Even though there not harmful to us humans we still need to protect our other sea life that they harm. So I hope you enjoy this poster and watch out for any!

Digital Graphing

Yesterday in class we learned how to make a digital graph on Google sheets.  We did this graph has a class, to see how it would work. Our class did this on the Average Rainfall in NZ (mm), across many city/towns, in NZ. It was really important that we got our data right, since if we didn’t then it wouldn’t work. After we had collected all our data, we got to make the graph, and experiment, what graph worked right for this data and what didn’t. Immediately, we knew that a pie graph and line graph wouldn’t work, since this set of data would be unclear when reading this. The perfect choice was a Bar graph, it was perfect because, it displayed the data correctly, and more clearly, then the others.

So today, I made this graph up top is about my own data that I collected from my research. It is about how many NZ Athletes have gone to the Olympics over 5 years.  Now I did the same thing form our last graph, I collected my data and made a table, then made my graph. Though it didn’t  go quite right the first time, has my vertical axis didn’t show the quite exact amount of number right.  It was more like guessing what it showed. so I delete the graph and tried again. This time I figured out what what wrong and with the help of my teacher I eventually got it right, to show the data clearly.  As well, now it had got me thinking, why did 2020 have so many athletes that had gone to the Olympics, has it was also COVID  time. My research I did, told me that they took more athletes because NZ had qualified for more sports, then they had over the other Olympics, has well, the Tokyo Olympics also took more women then men.

This was a really fun activity, I  enjoyed a lot of it and got two amazing graphs. I really hope we do this activity again, as well it saves my hand form writing and drawing it! :] I hope you enjoy reading.

The ancient mess

Today, for Mahi Tahi we had to make a building that was the tallest but was still sturdy when we did an ”earthquake” ( shook the table) with our team. Though before we did that, we first had to some learning about it,  by learning what the Ancient  Greeks did for keeping there building still standing today, as well as the structure.

First we read this book called Ancient but Earthquake-proof. It talks about how Greek always had earthquakes in there country, and how at the top of a hill in the capital of Greece there was this one building. It was called the Parthenon, and it had been standing for about 2 thousand, five hundred years ago! Though it was still standing! It also talks about how they used a foundations of blocks that were made out of limestone and lead. Lead was actually really important with this building as the in-between of the rocks and building would compress with the lead, keeping it still, but still allowing air to come through so it doesn’t rust or go weak.

After all that learning we got to the fun part. Making a building. We were spilt into groups of five and six. Our class was told to make a structure, out of marshmallows and raw pasta. Our building were suppose to be the tallest, stand by it’s self, and still be able to stay standing. We got the inspiration off of the Parthenon, of how it design was kind of build like our spine.  Though we also had to use our background knowledge of a basic builds and shapes. Like what shapes were the strongest and what wasn’t. The strongest shape would be a triangle.

My team did good we didn’t cooperate the greatest, but it was still fun. Our building also did stay up form the earthquake, which was super fun! Though one challenging but would be trying to keep everything balanced but still tall and sturdy, but our team managed through and it all worked out!

Thank you for reading :]

Cross Country

This is my Haiku about Cross Country.  A haiku had 5 syllables 7 syllables and 5 syllables. I have made a story, kind of out of them. This is how my day went. It was so fun i loved it sooooooooooooooooooooo much thank you for reading my story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy reading. :]

Tomatoes

Today we had to write about something we love or something we hate. I chose something I hate. That was

tomatoes! We also had to add some language features like, simile, texture imagery, taste imagery, repetition, and a short staccato sentence. I hope you enjoy reading this and understand MY HATE! to Tomatoes! Thank you. :]

Come see the new $200 note!

A couple pf week ago, our teacher made us design a $200 note, but first we had to some learning. We had to learn about what goes on a New Zealand note, where our money is kept, and how were going to design it to look like a New Zealand note but in a unique style.

Our class learned about our New Zealand notes and where it was kept. Our money is kept in a bank, but not a ordinary bank, the bank where all our money is stored is called the, the Reserved Bank of New Zealand. We also learned about the history of our notes. Our money, back in the old days was once, a papery texture, but they kept ripping. So they decided in 2015 that it would be better to make it more plasticy notes so that it would last a lot longer.

After all that learning we got to design.  The main things we had to put on our $200 dollar note is a native plant, a animal, and a inspirational person, who was form NZ. I chose  Jean Batten.

I chose Jean Batten because she was one of the first New Zealand women pilots to set a world record. She also inspired other people to become pilots. She gave inspirational speeches and helped put New Zealand’s name out there. I also had to choose a bird, that bird was a Bellbird. These birds are small, but they are fast birds that are excellent at flying around the forest. Like Jean Batten, who was an excellent flyer, when she was flying in sandstorms, or a storm. I chose the Kowhai flower because it represents ”personal growth” and I think Jean Batten grew as a person, when she inspired other women.

I learned a lot form this activity. I’m glad we got to do this and my favourite thing was learning about all the different things about money. Thank you for reading! Enjoy! :]

Oh and this is my $200 dollar note. What do you think?

The EPIC BATTLE!!

This is the battle between, Fishy, the superhero, who saves endangered sea life.  His old enemy is Old Bob Fisher, who doesn’t care about sea life and will fish up ANYTHING! This is the battle of the WORLD! WHO WILL WIN!!!

This is also for the Summer learning journey! I had SO MUCH fun playing around with the AI machine  for both these pictures. I am diffidently   going to do this in the summer, you should try as well! :] Thanks :]
