Yesterday in class we learned how to make a digital graph on Google sheets. We did this graph has a class, to see how it would work. Our class did this on the Average Rainfall in NZ (mm), across many city/towns, in NZ. It was really important that we got our data right, since if we didn’t then it wouldn’t work. After we had collected all our data, we got to make the graph, and experiment, what graph worked right for this data and what didn’t. Immediately, we knew that a pie graph and line graph wouldn’t work, since this set of data would be unclear when reading this. The perfect choice was a Bar graph, it was perfect because, it displayed the data correctly, and more clearly, then the others.

So today, I made this graph up top is about my own data that I collected from my research. It is about how many NZ Athletes have gone to the Olympics over 5 years. Now I did the same thing form our last graph, I collected my data and made a table, then made my graph. Though it didn’t go quite right the first time, has my vertical axis didn’t show the quite exact amount of number right. It was more like guessing what it showed. so I delete the graph and tried again. This time I figured out what what wrong and with the help of my teacher I eventually got it right, to show the data clearly. As well, now it had got me thinking, why did 2020 have so many athletes that had gone to the Olympics, has it was also COVID time. My research I did, told me that they took more athletes because NZ had qualified for more sports, then they had over the other Olympics, has well, the Tokyo Olympics also took more women then men.
This was a really fun activity, I enjoyed a lot of it and got two amazing graphs. I really hope we do this activity again, as well it saves my hand form writing and drawing it! :] I hope you enjoy reading.
